Automation Technician

Location: Penrose, Auckland

Job Description

Our client is developing a maintenance team to help customers with multiple fulfilment centres. The Automation Technician will maintain and facilitate a highly automated site while leading the future maintenance expansion. The successful candidate will be experienced in key subject matters pertaining to maintenance, workplace safety, data-driven management, and leadership. The Automation Technician will manage multiple sites and tasks simultaneously as well as be able to influence and develop relationships at all organizational levels.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Rectify electro-mechanical faults and technical assistance as a support technician.
  • Respond to emergency calls on Customer sites.
  • Be safety conscious in all activities, demonstrate a track record of owning problems, and promote successful completion of the tasks.
  • Create strong effective working relationships with the customer, Account Managers, and Operations team to achieve performance in terms of expected output, speed of response, quality of repair, and standards of workmanship.
  • Training of customer's operations team as required.
  • Provide up-to-date and accurate records in the Maintenance Management Software
  • Execution of site quality procedures, safety procedures, and any statutory procedures
  • Interact with on-site management keeping them informed of repair and maintenance progression and addressing their concerns in a professional manner.
  • Develop Maintenance Department business plans and provide guidance and direction for successfully implementing those plans. Develop and implement Reliability plans that support increasing the Uptime of the facility.
  • Drive maintenance Best Practices: Innovate, document, improve work methods, standardize, provide a safe work environment, and require safe work practices, collect, customer's experience.
  • Offer guidance to senior leadership on maintenance and equipment end-of-life (EOL) issues using ROI, and other analytical techniques.
  • Help to manage 3PLr relationships that provide out-of-hours support.
  • Ability to think outside the box and operate within

Qualifications:

  • Hold NZ Electrical Practising License and electrical work experience.
  • Degree in Mechatronics, Automation, or Mechanical Preferred or equivalent trade certification and work experience
  • 2 - 5 years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman, Maintenance Electrician, Machine Repairman, or Industrial Maintenance Engineering, Maintenance Manager
  • Experience running a field maintenance operation.
  • Experience utilizing and updating reports in Maintenance Management Software
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Process-oriented mentality
  • Hands-on, team-oriented, and committed to improvement processes.
  • Experience in reducing costs through processes and efficiencies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A background in material handling equipment systems/applications, automation, distribution processes, and storage systems preferred.
