Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori has a strong and supportive team of committed advocates for the revitalisation of te reo Māori. We support each other in our work and in improving our own use of te reo Māori. It is a small workplace with a family-friendly whānau culture. Our work will support the Government's Māori language strategy, Maihi Karauna, to be issued under the new Māori Language Act 2016.

As someone experienced with branding and rebranding the Marketing Communications Advisor will identify, mine and analyse data to inform the delivery of new and existing communications, marketing, and promotion services.

In this role you will build the brand of Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori whilst keeping brand concepts in mind and bringing them together within the team, including developing a 'kit set' and what the brand should be. You will seek information about the audience in a way that produces insights into the most efficient way to support them as they understand the significance of te reo Māori and towards language revitalisation. Additionally you will organise and run focus groups and analyse data, and advise on how that data impacts on the services provided by Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori. This role also requires you to evaluate, analyse and prepare insight reports on the effectiveness of marketing and communications activities and the lessons learnt from them.

The successful applicant will be working closely with a collaborative team as well as working closely with the Digital Advisor, the Principal Communications Advisor and the Director, Partnerships and Promotions.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in marketing and/or communications;
  • At least five years' experience in using data/marketing analysis, insights, or research to shape service delivery;
  • Previous experience in supporting social marketing or marketing campaigns;
  • Strong reporting and writing skills
  • The ability to articulate and make understood the role of data and marketing on shaping service delivery;
  • A sound understanding of key issues impacting on te reo Māori language development and regeneration, complete with an understanding of and commitment to te reo Māori; and
  • A moderate (Level 3) proficiency in te reo Māori.
