Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori has a strong and supportive team of committed advocates for the revitalisation of te reo Māori. We support each other in our work and in improving our own use of te reo Māori. It's a small workplace with a family-friendly whānau culture. Our work will support the Government's Māori language strategy, Maihi Karauna, to be issued under the new Māori Language Act 2016.

Working in the Policy & Development team the Senior Data Analyst will collect and analyse the data on the health of te reo Māori, including the contribution of the Crown towards supporting the revitalisation of the language.

In this role you will develop a set of key performance indicators for data analysis activity and provide input into the plans for communications initiatives, events and promotions, language plans, and digital media. You will work with policy staff to collect, collate, and analyse data from agencies, surveys and research reports along with managing and administering the data relevant to the performance management framework. Additionally you will liaise with key stakeholders in other Government agencies and research institutions and build cooperative relationships with these stakeholders at an appropriate level.

The successful applicant will be working closely with an open and warm team along with working alongside the Partnerships & Promotions team.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in statistics or research;
  • Proven experience in data analysis and research;
  • Sound relationship management skills;
  • A strong understanding of the machinery of government and government processes;
  • Excellent written and verbal skills; and
  • A high (Level 4) proficiency in te reo Māori.

You should also have an excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, particularly with Microsoft Excel.
